Pastels: Pipe Organ Music for Mother’s Day

  • Glen Foerd 5001 Grant Avenue Philadelphia, PA, 19114 United States (map)

Join us for elegant pipe organ music by Aaron Patterson in celebration of Mother’s Day. Johann Sebastian Bach, Dieterich Buxtehude, John Ireland, Sigfrid Karg-Elert, and Dana Suesse explore the evocative colors of Glen Foerd’s 1902 Haskell pipe organ. The signature piece on the program is Karg-Elert’s Pastel in B Major, an impressionistic work designed to capitalize on the subtleties of the organ. Stroll through the historic gilded-age mansion or find a seat on the first-floor or second-floor art gallery.

LilyP.A.D.S. friends will spend time enjoying the incredible sounds of the pipe organ music, while we create art with both oil and chalk pastels, design Mothers' Day cards for the amazing women in our lives, and explore pastel colors!

This performance and the restoration of Glen Foerd's Pipe Organ was made possible by a generous grant from the Wyncote Foundation.
