Mushroom and Fungi Walk

  • Glen Foerd 5001 Grant Avenue Philadelphia, PA, 19114 United States (map)

*SOLD OUT*

Join Luke Smithson for a stroll around the grounds as we look for mushrooms and other fungi that you can only expect to see in the springtime! Fungi are a vital part of every land ecosystem, even in large urban areas like Philadelphia. They are often overlooked because of their hidden nature, but we will seek them out and discuss the various roles they are serving as well as their relationships to plants and animals (including us).

The walk will be leisurely, appropriate for all ages, and held rain or shine (although heavy/severe rain will cancel the event).

*Meet by the public parking lot for the start of the walk.

Luke is a lifelong mushroom enthusiast and is active with the Philadelphia Mycology Club and the North American Mycological Association as well as several other mushroom organizations.
