Welcome to Glen Foerd
Entering Glen FoerdThe tree-lined lane curves gently through acres of gardens planted with exotic and native plants and shrubs. Soon, the outline of an Italianate mansion comes into view. The columns of the portico shelter the arriving vehicles, giving the first warm welcome to Glen Foerd. Through the main door, guests sweep beyond the entry and magnificent staircase to join the finely attired party gathered on the river lawn. Sailboats bob at their moorings and float past on the cool fall breeze.

Glen Foerd in WinterWelcome to Glen Foerd!

On behalf of the Glen Foerd Conservation Corporation we are pleased to have you visit with us through our web site and in person. Our organizational mission is to preserve the last surviving riverfront estate in Philadelphia as a historic site and a center for providing historic and cultural experience to the public.

In the past several years we have, repainted the mansion, restored our one-hundred fifty year old seawall, rebuilt our boathouse, and restored our one-hundred year old carriage house slate roof and cupola.

Other projects in the planning stages include replacing the art gallery roof and skylights and the restoration of our mansion’s interior rooms and ornamental plaster. These projects depend on many funding sources. As governmental resources dwindle and competition for grant funding intensifies, we become increasingly dependent on our friends and benefactors.

So please join us. Come see our work, our pride and joy. As a member, guest or benefactor, visit our "fine country seat" on the Delaware River and help us to fulfill our mission.
